Product Information

Eucalyptus radiata

A sweet, crisp and minty eucalyptus.

A species with many names; Australiana, Narrow Leaf Peppermint Gum and Radiata, this oil is prized globally for it’s wide variety of benefits including anti-inflammatory, anti-septic and anti-bacterial qualities. Eucalyptus Australiana is native to Australia and now grown around the world. This oil from the southern regions of New South Wales has light and fruity menthol aroma that adds to its prominent Eucalyptus scent making it one of the most desirable Eucalypts available.

A Little About The Farm

This farm is tucked away in a valley north of Bega (famous for cheese) on the far southern Sapphire coast of New South Wales. This decades-old plantation has recently been brought back to life after a long period of inactivity. The farm sits on over 300 acres of undulating hills and shares productivity with a thriving Angus cattle herd. It is surrounded by dense bushland in a peaceful and tranquil coastal setting.
The mother trees that surround the plantation have been used for seed generation for export for numerous years, a process that has encouraged new plantations globally.

Distillation Method

This plantation is hand harvested and distilled onsite using a mobile steam distillation rig designed and built by Native Oils Australia. It uses natural flowing creek water that is cooled and returned at the end of the distillation process.

Eucalyptus oils have similar basic structures with the main components comprising of 1.8-cineole, alpha pinene, d-limonene and alpha terpinene. Each of these elements will be stronger or weaker in each species and sometimes even between distillations of the same species. Eucalyptus Australiana is strongest in 1.8-cineole which has been proven by scientists globally to have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-hypertensive, spasmolytic, analgesic and anti-anxiety effects.

The element of 1.8-cineole that naturally occurs in Eucalyptus oil has been prescribed naturally as well as a synthesised version as a potential use for reducing preoperative anxiety in surgical patients. It is also common in many over-the- counter topical inflammation medications. Alpha pinene (also found in our Eucalyptus Australiana) is known to reduce inflammation and works as an anti-microbial when applied topically diluted in a carrier oil.
